LinkedIn has added some new features recently to both Personal and Company pages.

If you are an avid user of LinkedIn like I am, you may have already activated these changes, but if not, here is a few new features you might want to add to your profiles.

  • Video Cover Story

If you love Harry Potter then this tool you will love. You can now create a 30-second video which appears for an initial 3 seconds on top of your avatar profile image on your profile. It is a great way for you to introduce your business/skills/ services to your audience and showcase your personality from the get-go. Plan your video, add subtitles and get it to enhance your profile today!

  • Adding a unique URL to your profile

This is a great asset we all should have probably had many years ago, we could of course always add up to three web addresses into our contact area (which many people don’t take advantage of) But that still required your potential customers to look for it, now we have an option to add a link to your website directly from the front area of your profile. This allows your customer to go straight to your website. The added bonus is that you can also add text to enhance that link to give people a really positive call to action, for example, mine leads specifically to my training page, and my link states “Book a power hour with me today! “So it is a clear actionable message. It’s easy to add yours in the editable section of your profile, scroll down to the bottom and add your desired URL and message there.

  • Encouraging employee engagement on your Company page

Our employees are our business’s greatest assets all using Linkedin with their own networks to share business news. Often employees firstly are not connected to their Company page (make sure that happens) and more than often they don’t share content from the Company page as they are just not aware of it. The admins of the Company page now can toggle a button to ‘Notify Employees’ so all of your linked staff will get a nudge to know that new content has been shared and can dutifly share this with their own networks.

  • Creating a company newsletter

If you have access to your company’s LinkedIn page you may have seen a new feature ( have been bombarded with requests to join them) to create a newsletter. Potentially creating a newsletter can have a great impact on engagement as it gives a chance to demonstrate your industry expertise and also it is another r piece of content you can share both on snd off Linkedin for people to follow. Linkedin members can subscribe to your newsletter and be notified whenever you post a new article.

How to – Go to ‘Write an Article’ at the top of your Linkedin homepage, click create a newsletter, add a title, description and logo and click publish. By default, your connections and followers will be automatically invited to subscribe to your newsletter via notification. Try to post consistently with quality information.

  • Linkedin Polls (not so new but a great engagement tool)

LinkedIn polls offer a great way to gather marketing insights and increase engagement.  you have a choice of two to four options and the final results give you an opportunity to share your results to add further to the engagement opportunities. They have been well used so far on Linkedin, so be careful and thoughtful about how often you use them. Give it a try!

  • LinkedIn’s Featured Section

LinkedIn’s Featured Section is part of your personal profile, not on a LinkedIn group or company page. It allows you to highlight select posts and add links to external websites, images, or documents.

This section is located toward the top of your profile between the About section and Activity section. If you don’t see this feature, it’s probably because you can’t access it yet or haven’t switched on your Creator Mode profile option.

Once you have posted something, go back to the post, click on the three dots on the top right of your post and when offered, ‘Feature on top of my Profile” select this and this post will then remain front and central on your profile as well as in your news feed. Ideally for posts that have already received good social proof or are highlighting important information about your business.

So we hope you can look into some of these features and further optimise your profiles. Please take a look at my profile here for some inspiration.
